You can feel it, can’t you? The smell of the air begins to take on an Autumnal feel about it.
September is here and for some of this means it’s back to school routine and for others it’s also back to work as lockdown measure are easing more and more.
A change in our usual routine can cause us to feel uneasy or even very stressed and anxious. We might not know what to expect, there’s planning to be done, we’re used to the daily routine we used to have; for whatever reason, we can just stress things changing.
When we have routine in our lives, we feel more calm; we know what to expect as we’ve experienced it before, we can plan for it, we know what we need to do, where we need to be, what we need to take with us (our resources) how much energy we will need etc etc…..
Routines are good for us. Please have a listen to me taking on A Space To Speak Your Mind this week.
Wouldn’t it be great to bounce out of bed full of energy every day?
Unfortunately it’s not like that for most of us. But, the good news is, there are a number if things that we can all do to improve our quality of sleep. Please have a listen, below to my tips as well as hearing some of the benefits we get from a good night sleep.
If you’d like more information please give me a call. You can also download Sleep easily to listen to in the comfort of your own bedroom.
For some people change is really easy and for others it can be an uphill struggle. Some love it while for others it causes stress with can vary from slight discomfort to a panic attack. So what makes the difference?
Please have a listen here to find out how we make change easier –
A way to make this change even easier is to add in visualisation to your thinking. This is what make the difference in the Functional Imagery Training (FIT) model of working. In research about using FIT and weight management, participants who used FIT lost 5 times more weight than those who just had therapeutic input. This same model can work for you on other changes you would like to make. Give Amanda a call for more details. FIT can also be delivered easily online or in the workplace.
You might not have heard about NEAT but it’s your best friend when it comes to burning more calories. Neat is all about moving more or fidgeting in my world. People with a high NEAT score move more. They stand or walk more, they move their arms more and they are lighter and live longer than those with a low NEAT score.
The good news is, it’s easy to increase your NEAT score. Have a listen to the latest article I recorded for Source FM on A Space To Speak Your Mind.
You might have noticed some changes to my website recently? I’ve got a new logo, the name, LifeMOT and some new services on offer like FIT. Over the past 7 years I’ve been a Director and trainer with LifeMOT Community Interest Company (CIC) as well as running my private practice. Having a CIC has meant that I was able to offer my services as an NLP practitioner and trainer to unemployed people in Cornwall and apply for various funding including The Big Lottery. We ran successful Step into Life courses over three years and Well to Work to support people to return to employment who have long term health conditions. We also ran Life Talks and Life Conversation (continues with Andy Coote) events. At the end of March we made the decision to cease being a CIC.
It’s time for me to streamline my business and focus on bringing all the qualities from LifeMOT and my own practice into one space.
I’ll still be offering Hypnotherapy and NLP from my office in Penryn and online, but I’m also going to be adding Workplace health sessions for employers in Cornwall (or further afield if online) The NEW packages will be based around Functional Imagery Training (FIT) and will teach employees how to gain control of their eating habits, alcohol intake or managing day to day stress. Have a look at the FIT page for more details. I’m really excited to be one the first FIT therapist offering this in Cornwall. Please give me a call to find out more.
Thank you to everyone who has supported LifeTalks over the years. I’ll look into bringing them back when it seems the right time.
Since the pandemic has disrupted my usual working practice somewhat it has given me the opportunity to do a few things that I really love and have not previous had much time to do.
One of those is to take part in A Space To Speak Your Mind radio show on Source FM, our local radio station here in Falmouth. In collaboration with Cornwall MIND, this show is all about Mental Health.
In my first recording I talk about the need for us all to find some space for listening and pausing in our day. We’ve just gone into isolation and there has been a tendency, for some, to try and fill the space where work or our social lives would have been by taking part in online exercise classes, learning something, creative projects, online chat….. you name it, it’s available online somewhere. It can be overwhelming!
I’d like to encourage you to stop for a moment and listen to the sounds and here:
Can hypnosis help me? It’s a question I hear a lot when I pick up the phone or answer email enquiries.
Please have a listen to kia and hear how she experienced sessions with me and how they have helped her. I love this clip as it’s a great description, in her own words, of a number of different techniques that I might use with you. I hope you will find it useful in making a decision to give me a call. I’m happy to have a chat/email to discuss the support I can offer you. Thanks for your time
It’s time I gave a talk I thought. So, I’m stepping up to give a Lifetalk again this year to kick off the speakers events with LifeMOT.
If you’re wondering:
How do I make changes to my life, work, health?
Why can’t I stick to a plan
How do I make IT happen
Then come along and I’ll do my best to throw some light onto this subject.
I hear people talking about their New Years Resolutions and wonder; Is this a good idea or not? We all need goals in life BUT, we don’t need to set ourselves up for failure, or beat ourselves up if it doesn’t work out (This time)
I look forward to seeing you there. January 21st at The Carnon Inn Carnon Downs 6.45pm. Book on Eventbrite
It’s that time of year again. October see’s two different campaigns going on to help us improve our health and well-being. Stoptober is supported by Public Health England and aims to help the nation become smoke free. There are lots of resources available from the website so I would encourage you to have a look. I’m also supporting this campaign and recently had an article in The Packet encourage people to seek out hypnotherapists who are on the CNHC register.
Hypnotherapy can support and prepare you to change your behaviours and habits. I use a variety of additional techniques within a package of 3 sessions over the period of a month. During Stoptober I am offering 10%off. I can also come out to your work place and run a group workshop on behavioural change to get the ball rolling.
It’s also the month of Go Sober for October supported by Macmillan. Aimed at social drinkers who wish to change their habits and raise money for a fabulous charity. Over the years I have noticed an increase in people coming to see me for “Social Drinking” and recently I was asked if I would organise a group for people who felt they were drinking a bit too much on a regular basis and needed a bit of support to get back in control of their habits.
Sometimes we need a campaign to bring our awareness to something that has become a habit with us and, Actually, is not good for us anymore.
If you would like additional support with either becoming smoke free or moderating/abstaining from social drinking then please give me a call. You’ll find testimonials within my website too.
Good luck to everyone taking part.
